Before joining Baxter Harder Kelly served as a Deputy District Attorney in both Deschutes and Lane Counties, where he successfully prosecuted DUII and traffic crimes, property and drug offenses, and violent crimes including crimes involving domestic violence, child abuse, hate crimes, and sex crimes. As a prosecutor, Kelly helped coordinate investigations with local law enforcement agencies, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and both the Oregon and United States Department of Justice. Kelly also provided training to law enforcement, and even prosecutors, across Oregon.
Kelly brings his training, experience, and trial skills to the service of his clients facing criminal charges and investigations. He takes great pride in leveling the balance of power to achieve fair and just results.
Kelly was born and raised in the high plains of Wyoming. Prior to beginning his legal career in Oregon, he attended the University of Wyoming where he studied English and Philosophy and competed on the Men’s Division I Rugby Team. He later graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming College of Law where he was also selected to serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Criminal Justice Department to teach courses on criminal law and constitutional law pertaining to search and seizure.
Kelly enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle with his wife and their dog, Herschel. His interests include playing music, surfing on the Oregon coast, and traveling.
