Lian grew up in Muscatine, Iowa, on the banks of the Mississippi River. She earned her bachelor's degree in political science at Simpson College, where she also played tennis and was involved in many other activities.
After school, she and her husband, Jeremy, moved to the great Pacific Northwest with their chocolate Lab puppy, Murphy. Although currently without a canine companion, Lian is a huge lover of dogs both big and small, and can be found many days walking the Larkspur trail greeting the neighborhood's pups.
Lian has worked in a variety of administrative positions, supporting professionals in fields such as applied mathematics, medical, legal, and even food service. She and her husband have also owned and operated several Oregon restaurants, most recently Birdies Cafe in Bend.
In her free time, Lian enjoys feeding backyard birds, spin biking, watching professional tennis, planning her next snorkel trip to Hawaii, and baking the perfect loaf of banana bread.
